The citizens' initiative Krelingen-Westenholz

BI Krelingen-Westenholz has set itself the task of preserving and protecting the village habitat and the surrounding nature as much as possible. In this context, agricultural / forestry, social and climate policy developments are also included in the considerations.

The city of Walsrode decided on a draft for a new zoning plan on August 20, 2019. As a citizens' initiative, we would like to defend ourselves against the planned project of creating an industrial area of approx. 143 hectares on the outskirts of our localities, and we can use any help.

The topic briefly summarized here in the video:

What is it actually about?

On August 20, 2019, the city of Walsrode decided to revise the land use plan of the city of Walsrode. In the motorway triangle between the A7 and the A27 should therefore one about 143 hectares of land as a future industrial park. Logistics companies with large halls should primarily set up shop there.

The problems for the population in Krelingen-Westenholz and for the entire district are listed under the following points:

noise
  • Traffic noise from the nearby A7 and A27 motorways
  • Shooting noise from the Bergen military training area and the Krelingen shooting range
  • Noise pollution from trucks arriving and departing from the large parking lot on the A27 in the immediate vicinity of Krellen
Climatic development
  • Summer 2018 great drought. Summer 2019 27% less precipitation
  • Temperature records and persistent heat waves
  • Forest dieback in Germany
  • Water supply associations to the responsible use of drinking water
  • Climate change is advancing
Agricultural development
  • Scarcity of resources in animal feed due to drought
  • Harvest yields poor due to drought
  • "Land death" through expropriations (conversion of arable / grassland into commercial / industrial areas)
Social and economic developments
  • A typical heathland is being destroyed
  • Habitat for humans and animals is disappearing
  • Recreation area disappears
  • Water protection area endangered!
